Official names, neighborhoods and transport

Bakırköy Municipality broadly describes the district through the Bakırköy Centre, Ataköy, Yeşilköy and Florya areas, while formal addresses use more specific neighborhoods. Ataköy is also a group of section-based neighborhoods rather than a single neighborhood.

Ataköy

Administrative status: A group of section-based official neighborhoods, including Ataköy 1st Section and other grouped sections

The municipality describes the development of the Ataköy estates from the 1960s as a planned urban settlement. Ataköy has both a Marmaray station and the terminal station of M9. Property pages should state the official section, such as 1st Section or 2-5-6 Section, rather than using Ataköy alone.

Yeşilköy

Administrative status: Official neighborhood in Bakırköy district

Yeşilköy is an official neighborhood with a same-name Marmaray station. In its architectural overview, the municipality groups Yeşilköy with Yeşilyurt and Şenlikköy/Florya as areas where villa-type buildings are found. The exact building type and permitted use must still be checked for each property.

Yeşilyurt

Administrative status: Official neighborhood in Bakırköy district

Yeşilyurt is an official neighborhood with a same-name Marmaray station. Municipal sources discuss it within Bakırköy’s western areas together with Yeşilköy and Florya. Because the station and neighborhood cover different footprints, distance to the station entrance should be measured from the exact address.

Florya / Şenlikköy

Administrative status: Florya is the common area name; Şenlikköy is one of the principal official neighborhoods within it

Within Bakırköy’s administrative structure, Florya is a broad locality name, while many formal addresses fall in Şenlikköy or Basınköy. Marmaray has both Florya and Florya Akvaryum stations. A property page should display the common Florya name together with the registered official neighborhood.

Zuhuratbaba

Administrative status: Official neighborhood in Bakırköy district

Zuhuratbaba is an official inland Bakırköy neighborhood. Municipal planning sources document several local parks in the area. There is no rail station named Zuhuratbaba, so access should be described according to the property’s actual relationship with İncirli, Bakırköy or local bus routes.

Bakırköy Centre

Administrative status: Common central-area name; includes official neighborhoods such as Cevizlik, Yenimahalle and Sakızağacı

Bakırköy Centre is a general label for the district’s central area rather than one official neighborhood. The Marmaray Bakırköy station and the M3 Özgürlük Meydanı and Bakırköy Sahil stations serve this broader zone. Property-page titles should also state the official neighborhood, such as Cevizlik or Sakızağacı.

What should be checked for a specific property?

A neighborhood name alone is not enough to assess a property. The formal title address, actual walking distance to a station entrance, street access and gradient, the building’s legal and technical status and any applicable restrictions must be checked for the specific property. District-level studies do not replace a building-level technical assessment.

Sources and research method

This page is based on official municipal and public-transport sources. Routes and service patterns can change and should be checked again before a purchase decision.
